The Trend Setters:
What one would think to be a boring, brainless combo is being worn ways that are anything but basic. From First Lady to A-list celebrities, street style to cat-walk struts, all of fashion’s fiercest players are winning in this chic concoction. All are dressed in the same two hues, but look vastly different. The bottom line is, no matter whom you fetish for fashion, it is easy to see: simple and polished is in.
Spring/Summer 2013 collections have showed designers such Prada, Rebecca Minkoff, Naeem Khan et al, dousing collections with patterns, designs and decals in dark and light. By popping to plain shades, amazing juxtapositions of classic, contemporary, and avant-garde are being shown.
The Trend Translators:
These neutral staples are items we all own, making the black and white trend is easy for everyone to emulate according to personal taste. The most standard wardrobe necessities are now some of the most fashion-forward items hanging in the closet. There’s no limit to how simply or creatively they can be styled, layered or accessorized.
If you’re a minimalist, this is the perfect opportunity to cleanse your color palette and take a break from all those wild fads phasing in and out of the fashion scene (Sayonara, studded lapels). Getting dressed has just gotten a bit easier for you. But if you like bold outfits, do mix prints and textures, add metallic accessories and wear visually interesting separates to make your personal statement.
